Church COACHING

A higher standard with eternal consquence

As a Church Coach I meet with the leadership of the church to learn the good, the bad and the ugly.  Leadership along with Pastoral staff come together and "lay all the cards on the table" in an effort to get a clear and accurate picture of the current state of the church.

Through group and individual conversations a plan is developed and put into action that seeks to meet the needs of the current conregants as well seeking to grow by engaging the community the church serves.  A coaching plan is put into effect that works with individuals and teams within the church engaging them in the plan as laid out by church leadership.

Congregants are integrated into the plan and offered opportunties to get engaged and participate in the church.  Having a leadership / pastoral team along with a fully engaged congregation being able to articulate and focused on a common goal for the good of the Kingdom creates a church that is fully equipped and ready to serve the community it is in.

And when the church is ready and equipped God will bring the people knowing that His will can and will be done because the church is ready to serve.

Complicit Complacency

The way we have always done things

When it comes to the traditional church, the way we have always done things, or perhaps it is stated as, that's the way we've always done it are perhaps the most fatal of words.

The modern church is already faced with competition from all sides competing for the hearts and minds of potential congregants.  And while all those outside distractions constantly change and keep up with the times to keep people engaged, the place where people can truly experience life changing, eternity changing decision and interaction fails constantly to adopt new methods and procedures.

And when the question is poised as to why change is not embraced, the response it almost always something along the lines of, "...that's the way we've always done it."

There are lots of things that used to be done differently, but as time marches on, how we do things changes.  The same person anserwing the question most likely has a fairly recent smartphone in their pocket - seems ironic that a landline telephone was something that was always done, a generation ago, and yet we adapted a better technology.

Why isn't church adopting better technology, systems procedures?  Why does church always feel a generation or two behind the times?  Why doesn't church meet the intended congregant where they are in life and bring relevant life changing messages to that person?

Sadly the answer is simple, church has refused to change.  I call it complicit complaceny.  AND IT IS FATAL.  No where is the adage more true - if you ain't growing you're dying - than the modern church.

The tools are available, the knowledge is available, the know how is available to make church relevant to the community it intends to serve - as leadership in the church you just need to know where to find it.

Ask yourself these questions...

Whose needs is our church focused on meeting?

Does our church seek to meet the needs with intention?

Had our church adapted to and kept up with the needs of the community it serves?

Growth with a Purpose

and yes, it includes the youngest amongst you

Sadly a typical conversation with some of the older contacts I make includes some commentary on how their church has changed and really seems to be focused on the younger participants.  That comment is usually followed up with how they just aren't sure the church will survive as it is driving off the big donors.

The shocking answer to those comments is simply this.  God doesn't need ANY of our money, including those big donors that are being driven off.  God has an amazing way of making sure the needs of his people are met, and that includes His Church.  I'm pretty sure he isn't worried about keeping the lights on when someone gets offended because church tries some new things to attract younger people.

The reality is, and this is as true today as it was 500 years ago, a churches growth begins in the nursery.  Failure to capture and engage the hearts and minds of the youngest people in the church, the ones who don't have a say in whether or not they go to church each week, will dictate whether those people will stay in the church when they are old enough to make the decision themselves.

And still the congragation complains and is unsettled.

Change is good, growth is good, having the ability to meet the needs of the youngest and oldest is a delicate balance.  But that delicate balance can be met and a plan put into place that seeks to engage the hurting, the lost, the lonely, the ones that need to come to that life changing, soul saving decision to follow Jesus and commit their lives to them.

And challenged with that inititiave, one that means the music played, or the lighitng use won't always be to an individuals personal liking, but that that individual can accept and adapt because they know that in doing so the lives of other people have the opportunity to be touched and changed means that church can start on its path to growth.

The truth is, Heaven will be a crowded place - AND THAT IS A GOOD THING.  We want as many people as possible being there.  Well if growing Heaven is good for eternity, why would you not want to grow the church to help bring more people into eternity?

Ask Yourself these questions...

Is your church equipped to meet people where they are at in life?

Would a new person feel welcome in your church?

Does your church know how to meet the needs of the community it serves?

Take the next step...

Is your church ready to take that next step, fill out the form below and I will contact you and schedule a time to meet.  There is no obligation, I offer a no charge 1 hour consultation to see if my skills are a good fit for your church.

In preparation of our meeting, take time to complete the "summarize" field below offering as much detail as possible.  Meetings will typically take place at your church, and you are encouraged to bring in other members of your team (at your discretion) to offer a broader picture and allow me the opportunity to learn as much as possible during our time together.

The more insight that is offered by you and your team, the better I can prepare in working with you to develop a strategic plan that can be implemented to help your church meet and exceed its stated goals.
